AN INDEPENDENT NOTEBOOK

Field Notes.

A little space for looking closer: at places, everyday objects and the patterns we tend to overlook.

PLACES

A slower way to see a city

Walk the same street at different hours. Morning light picks out the details above the shopfronts; in the evening, windows turn into a second layer of the street. Familiar places rarely look exactly the same twice.

OBJECTS

Things that improve with use

A pencil, a well-made cup, the cover of a notebook. Useful objects acquire a quiet record of the people who use them. Keeping and repairing something can be its own small form of attention.

OBSERVATIONS

Leave a little room

Not every page needs to be filled. A margin, a pause between tasks, an unplanned hour outside: the empty spaces often give the rest of the day its shape.
